Robyn Errico is a Darlington-based, piano-led songwriter who is set to begin recording her debut album later this year. She kicks off 2026 by heading to The Forum in her home town to launch her latest EP. I began by asking her how she describes her music: “I describe my music as kind of cinematic, progressive pop. I’m a piano-based singer-songwriter and I write all my music on the piano. I take a lot of inspiration from classical music, film scores, and artists such as Tori Amos, Florence & The Machine, Kate Bush, and Portishead,” she explains.
The EP, ‘Through The Gap’, will be launched at The Forum on Saturday 21st March and features four tracks: “I’m really proud of it and excited for people to hear it. The show is to celebrate the EP. I’ll be playing the whole thing, along with a couple of songs from my previous EP and quite a lot of new material that I’ll be trying out on the night. Rehearsals are already underway with my drummer, Mark, and I’m really looking forward to it.”
Robyn has recently released the singles ‘Whitby Jet’, ‘Welcome to Sedona’, and ‘Darkest Days’, which reflect a combination of strong songwriting and a carefully developed sound – something she credits to a collaborative recording process. “Luke Elgie, based at Blank Studios in Newcastle, was the audio engineer and also handled mixing and mastering. He did an absolutely amazing job. My drummer, Mark Johnson, is fantastic as well – it was a real joint effort. I like to do as much as I can at home, so a lot of the sounds for ‘Whitby Jet’, for example, have been around for about five years, locked away in my original demos. It was really cool to take those demos and essentially transfer them, with Luke adding his magic on top.”
Looking ahead, Robyn is preparing to return to the studio to begin work on her debut album. “I’d like to involve more musicians and bring in some guest players – strings, brass, or woodwind. A lot of musicians are willing to offer their services, and I’m hoping to raise some money around the Forum gig so I can pay people properly for their skills and talent.”
The album is currently planned for release in 2027, and Robyn is clearly excited to continue building on the cinematic, emotive sound that has become her signature.
Tickets for Robyn’s Forum gig, priced at £12.00 in advance, are available at theforumonline.co.uk.
