Tracks, a Darlington music collective, have collaborated with North East record label Butterfly Effect to release the region’s first all-female compilation album.
The record aims to inspire women across the industry by showcasing female talent, following research that highlights just 22% of popular music is performed by women.
Sarah Wilson, spokesperson for Tracks said: “There are still many issues around achieving equality in music – as a female musician and promoter I see this all the time. Through Noisy Daughters, we hope to contribute to the change in our musical landscape and hopefully highlight and support female artists.”
To celebrate the launch of the vinyl, a gig will be held at Voodoo Cafe in Darlington on May 17 with performances from the artists on the LP.
Tickets are £5.00 in advance or £15.00 including the record. Head to tracksdarlington.co.uk for further information including line-up details.
