Independent live music promoter PinDrop Events is set to bring two acclaimed international singer-songwriters to the North East this October, with Seattle’s Tiny Vipers making her first-ever appearance in the region.
The Sub Pop artist, the project of singer-songwriter Jesy Fortino, will perform alongside Belgium/Netherlands-based artist Chantal Acda and rising Teesside talent Anna Karila at two intimate shows in Hartlepool and Saltburn.
The dates mark Tiny Vipers’ North East debut and are believed to be the first Sub Pop label shows in both Hartlepool and Saltburn. The Saltburn event will also be PinDrop Events’ first-ever show in the town, as the promoter returns from its summer hiatus.
Known for her sparse and haunting folk, Tiny Vipers has earned praise from Pitchfork and Sputnikmusic for her distinctive songwriting and atmospheric sound. Acda, meanwhile, moves between indie folk, ambient and contemporary jazz, with her genre-crossing work receiving acclaim from Rolling Stone.
Completing the line-up is 19-year-old Teesside singer-songwriter Anna Karila. Her debut single, ‘Sweet’, has drawn comparisons to artists including Fiona Apple and Joni Mitchell, marking her out as an exciting emerging local voice.
PinDrop Events founder Brian Barnes said the shows had been a long time coming, having first seen Tiny Vipers perform in a small venue in Cork in 2009.
“She rarely makes it to the UK, so to finally bring her to the North East, and to open up Saltburn as a new home for PinDrop at the same time, feels like a genuinely special moment,” he said.
The shows take place at The Owl IN Hartlepool on Thursday 15TH October, followed by The Lounge at Saltburn House in Saltburn on Friday 16th October.
