Teesside singer-songwriter Charlea B’s debut album, ‘Breathe’, mashes country and ballad-style songs together with a singing style reminiscent of the ‘80s.
The album opens up with the titular track, ‘Breathe’, a piano ballad with soothing harmonies that has a style similar to some of Sia’s work.
The release contains multiple elements including guest singers, electric guitar solos and ambient synth sounds to create an eclectic mix.
There are plenty of stylistic elements to be appreciated across this album too, ranging from upbeat country songs such as ‘Friends Forever’ and ‘Shopping List’ to mellow ballad songs such as ‘Flying Solo’ and ‘Driving Home’.
The album ends on a beautiful track entitled ‘When I Needed You’. The song ties in both themes across the album by putting country guitar and piano ballad into one song – and I think it works really perfect.
‘Breathe’ flows really well as an album and is an absolute pleasure to listen to.
