Marq Electronica releases a new track in ‘Nervous’, a vocal-dominated slice of deep house with a decidedly contemporary sheen.
Replete with RnB shimmer, the track is sleek and radio-ready, but, true to its lyrics, the surface level belies the constituent parts beneath, from the orchestral swells tucked into the background to the belching synth elements making the listen so fun, and the twitchy percussive variants lending the necessary, off-time energy.
The Newcastle-based artist is riding a rising profile of streaming plays and notable collaborations. ‘Nervous’ signposts a more heavily synthy direction than previous material, and its polish is heavily indicative of the influences Electronica wears firmly on his sleeve, a laundry list of modern airplay huggers such as Disclosure and MNEK. The throb and movement of this instrumental evidence the promise of so much electronic-leaving post-disco music, with Goldfrapp also tellingly name-dropped as seminal.
The vocals fit like a glove and perfectly match the atmosphere and stylings, suggestive of an artist making consciously good decisions and moving in an appropriate personal direction.
You can listen to the track from Friday 3rd March on all major streaming platforms.
