The subject matter, according to the band themselves, centres on the “realisation of investing time and energy into something that ultimately leads nowhere, and the clarity that follows”. A relatable theme if ever there was one.
Seconds in, it’s clear that the Newcastle-based, female-fronted alt-rock outfit – made up of Maria, Kieran, James, Tom and Nick – are technically accomplished and completely in sync. They also sound like they’re having a great time. ‘Timewaster’ lives up to its name by wasting none at all; there’s barely an intro before it launches into life. Within moments, Maria Winter’s vocals cut through with a sharp, tuneful tongue-lashing, full of wit and unmistakable feminine rage.
The guitars are powerful without being showy, striking a balance between grit and control. Layered harmonies add richness, while the chorus is instantly catchy – made for shouting along to. Midway through, a frantic synth solo twists into jagged guitar riffs, driving the track towards one final, explosive chorus.
‘Timewaster’ is a fierce, high-energy anthem – bold, uncompromising, and guaranteed to get you moving, shouting, and fully immersed in its unapologetic attitude.
