North East Witch-pop priestess and singer Shannon Pearl has recorded a new EP entitled ‘Eternal’ – and it’s a cracker.
The journey begins with ‘Scorched’. This fire-crackling opening track introduces Shannon’s mysterious vocalisations and kulning techniques, conjuring images of a solstice bonfire beneath a midnight sky. Hypnotic drum patterns and pulsing basslines throb beneath the surface. If this doesn’t make you want to dance around a blazing fire, then I don’t know what will.
The second track is a pulsating and, dare I say, sensual creation featuring birdsong, handpan melodies, spine-tingling vocals and tantric breathing.
‘Stone’ follows, introducing unexpected percussive textures. Shannon raises the intensity vocally, with a haunting refrain that risks becoming lodged in the listener’s mind.
‘Flux’ features layered harmonies that ebb and flow like the tide. Shannon’s music feels so deeply connected to the elements that the two merge seamlessly.
The finale, ‘Temple’, is a ceremonial and deeply evocative piece, showcasing the enchanting power of her voice. This is a marriage of spiritual sound, raw emotion and untamed nature.
