Sustainable living, creativity, and community spirit are set to take centre stage as the award-winning Festival of Thrift returns to its historic home at Kirkleatham Museum and Grounds in Redcar.
Taking place over the weekend of Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th July, the festival is expected to attract up to 40,000 visitors. For many local residents, the return to Kirkleatham holds special significance, with the heritage grounds having served as the much-loved setting for the event for many years.

Running from 11am until 5pm on both days, the free event promises a packed programme designed to inspire sustainable and resourceful living. Visitors will be able to take part in a range of hands-on workshops and activities focused on upcycling, mending, and environmentally friendly life skills. The grounds will also come alive with live music, outdoor theatre, dance performances, and creative art installations spread throughout the venue.
Alongside the entertainment, the festival will feature a carefully curated selection of independent market stalls. Visitors can browse pre-loved fashion, eco-conscious homeware, handcrafted goods, and vintage treasures while supporting local businesses and sustainable traders. A wide variety of independent food vendors will also be on site, offering sustainable and locally sourced food and drink options throughout the weekend.
Whether you are hoping to discover a new eco-friendly hobby, support small businesses, or simply enjoy a brilliant free day out with family and friends, the Festival of Thrift promises an uplifting celebration of sustainability, creativity, and community spirit in the heart of Redcar.
