The mythical story of Jack and The Beanstalk will grace the stage of Newcastle’s Tyne Theatre Opera House on rescheduled dates with a star-studded cast.
The untouched classic is retold as Dame Dotty and her family were tricked into selling their beloved family cow, Daisy, for a bag of useless beans. Silly Simon (Charlie Richmond) brings the much-needed laughter and hero Jack Trott (George Sampson) leads the search for his sweetheart Jill from the nasty giants in the sky.
North East actor Charlie Richmond continues in the role of Simple Simon following the COVID-19 outbreak. Richmond has led a successful career following his acting debut in local film ‘Purely Belter’ in 1999 and earned a BA Honours Performing Arts degree from Sunderland University in 2004, highlighting his talents for acting. Roles in ‘Inspector George Gently’ (BBC) and Joe Maddison’s War (ITV) showcased his abilities on the stage and TV.
Britain’s Got Talent 2008 winner, George Sampson, continues where COVID-19 paused in his lead role as Jack Trott. Winning the ITV show aged 14 opened many opportunities for Sampson including a 2008 West End debut in ‘Into the Hoods.’ His dancing abilities earned him a role in 2010 first all-British 3D film ‘Street Dance 3D’ and ultimately lead him to become Dance Aid Patron in 2009. And his role in BBC drama Waterloo Road (2011) allowed him to show his acting capabilities for the stage.
The rescheduled summer half-term dates will follow strict COVID-19 guidelines including reduced audience capacity with no interval to minimise crowding, tickets booked for groups of 2, 4 or 6 seats only (same household or support bubble), tickets shown on mobiles, tablets or printed at home and masks must be worn at all times.
The new dates of 26th May – 6th June have been rescheduled from 10th till 18th April, 13th till 21st February and 18th till 24th December.
Jack and The Beanstalk, featuring George Sampson and Charlie Richmond, will be at the Tyne Theatre Opera House in Newcastle on rescheduled dates of 26th May to the 6th June, with tickets priced at £20.00.
