An annual celebration of the greatest grassroots musical and comedic acts in the country, Last Train Home spreads across three venues in Darlington on Saturday 7th September.
Promoted and organised by Tracks, a local music collective dedicated to propelling local acts to success, the entire day is planned around finishing for the last train home (as the name implies).
Providing a platform for acts from both near and far, it’s absolutely something to put on the calendar for any music or comedy lover.
Musical headliners include Coach Party, trekking all the way over from the Isle of Wight, alongside garage-punk outfit Avalanche Party, who have recently returned from playing across Europe.
No genre is spared in this line-up, ranging from singer-songwriters such as local artist Finn Forster to alt-rock outfit We Tibetans, really providing something for all music lovers.
This great event is really utilising the best the North East has to provide, and this isn’t ignored in venues.
Spreading across the historic Darlington Hippodrome, the well-known Forum Music Centre and the unique Hullabaloo Theatre, the ability for Darlington to host such an event isn’t wasted.
All the fun isn’t just kept to the musicians; however, with comedy acts being hosted too.
Featuring popular comics such as Bethany Black and Mick Ferry, amongst others, these acts are sure to get a giggle out of you.
The mixture of local talent and those from further away in both comedy and music makes this festival so unique, giving local acts the chance to up their game and play larger shows and giving out-of-town acts the chance to enter into a whole new area of the country, whilst audiences get to discover new great, entertaining performers – so it’s a win-win for all.
Starting back in the mid-2010s, Last Train Home has evolved into something bigger and better every single year, last year hosting acts such as Britain’s Got Talent winner Lost Voice Guy and HotWax, who supported Royal Blood in the same year during their UK and North American tours.
The quality hasn’t dropped this year at all and it is as unmissable as always.
As already said, this is a must-go for any music or comedy lover.
Tickets, priced at £25.00 in advance, are available from tracksdarlington.co.uk.
