West London project The Lurkers formed in 1976, not long before revolutionary and influential musical pioneering giants such as The Killing Joke, Billy Idol and The Sex Pistols injected the music scene with angst and political controversy.
Punk and glam rock were extremely relevant during the UK economic and environmental pressures at the time, with the music changing peoples’ perspectives and thoughts surrounding the social climate.
The Lurkers were part of this revolution back in the 70s, but the band, unlike the Sex Pistols, for example, are still going strong today.
Today’s line-up consists of Stuart Meadows (drums), Dave Kemp (guitar) and Arturo Bassick (bass), with Arturo the only constantly active member of the band.
The Lurkers play Cowpen Bewley Club, Billingham on Friday 23rd November with support coming from The Fuckwits, The Hangmen and Snide Remarks.
Tickets, priced at £8.80 in advance (including booking fee), are available from wegottickets.com.
