Gary Numan is the undisputed godfather of synth-pop and electronic music. His introduction to the scene began in 1977 when he fronted the new wave outfit Tubeway Army, culminating in the chart-topping album ‘Replicas’. Following its success, Tubeway Army disbanded and Numan began releasing music under his own name. His debut solo album, ‘The Pleasure Principle’, featuring the globally recognised hit single ‘Cars’, went on to achieve cult acclaim.
A tireless innovator and master of reinvention, Numan has released over 20 albums to date. His pioneering contributions to electronic music deserve recognition, so be sure to catch him at The Glasshouse, Gateshead, this weekend.
Tickets, priced at £52.60 in advance, are available at theglasshouseicm.org.
