Gomez’s debut album, ‘Bring it On’ was released in 1998 to huge critical acclaim. And the Southport five-piece’s blend of classic rhythm and blues and modern experimentation went on to win the prestigious Mercury Prize.
Since then, the band have released six studio albums alongside various solo projects and built a core fanbase on both sides of the Atlantic. Their last release was 2011’s ‘Whatever’s on Your Mind.’
To celebrate 25 years since their debut, and sophomore album ‘Liquid Skin’, Ottewell and Ball are touring a paired-down set of songs from both. They play Sunderland’s The Fire Station on Tuesday 9th July.
Tickets, priced from £26.00, are available from thefirestation.org.uk.
