BBC Three series ‘Ideal’ is a dark comedy born from the wild imagination of writer Graham Duff. It follows the misadventures of Moz (played by Johnny Vegas), a loveable loser who deals cannabis from his rundown flat in Salford, constantly and unwittingly getting caught up in the chaos that comes with the territory.
Many will know Johnny as the long-standing team captain on surreal celebrity quiz show ‘Shooting Stars’, complete with his perpetual pint of Guinness and heavy Lancashire accent. But his role as Moz earned him cult status.
‘Ideal’ ran for seven seasons before being cancelled in 2011. Now, 14 years later, it’s back – with a stage adaptation marking its 20th anniversary. The show sees Moz once again embroiled in a mystery, with all the hilarity fans remember, and the return of several original cast members.
Johnny Vegas reprises his role as Moz, alongside Ryan Pope as Psycho Paul, Ben Crompton as Colin, and Graham Duff as Brian. And, of course, who could forget the silent, mouse-mask-wearing hitman, Cartoon Head?
‘Ideal’ heads to The Fire Station, Sunderland on Wednesday 17th and Thursday 18th September.
Tickets, priced from £21.00, are available from thefirestation.org.uk.
