Blue Orchids were formed in 1979 by guitarist/vocalist Mark Bramah following his departure from The Fall. Whilst never as famous or prolific as his previous band, Blue Orchids carved a reputation as cult favourites in their own right, releasing a flurry of singles on labels like Rough Trade, whilst also serving as the backing group for the enigmatic Velvet Underground collaborator Nico in the 1980s.
Periods of inactivity have been punctuated by several well-received releases and live performances since, with the band now scheduled to play at the Westgarth Social Club in Middlesbrough on Saturday 24th September, with support coming from West Yorkshire’s Klammer.
