Big Figure Promotions, in association with The Forum, will present the ninth edition of Riverside Rebellion, the North East’s annual celebration of all things punk.
Returning on Saturday 29th November with another unmissable line-up, this all-day event brings together a mix of established favourites and fresh blood for a night packed with noise, energy, and punk spirit in abundance.
Headlining are the larger-than-life Dirt Box Disco. Born in 2010 from what they describe as “a terrible musical chemical laboratory experiment”, the Nottingham band began playing purely for fun – but quickly exploded into one of the UK punk scene’s most recognisable and beloved acts. Seven albums in, plus an EP and countless chaotic live shows later, Dirt Box Disco transform pubs into mosh pits and sold-out venues into mass sing-alongs. Dressed in fancy dress (as always), and now fronted by new vocalist Spunk, their Forum set promises to be nothing short of explosive.
Representing the North East on the line-up are Boilermaker, a raw, no-nonsense punk outfit formed in Darlington by Phil Coates (Last Rough Cause) and Max Turnbull. Since their formation in 2016, their uncompromising sound and fierce live energy have made them local legends.
Crossing the Irish Sea, The Gakk bring their street-punk fury all the way from Dundalk. With influences from The Clash and Dead Kennedys, their high-octane performances have made them one of Ireland’s most vital punk exports.
MC16 bring punk with purpose, proving that the genre can challenge and confront as well as entertain. Their debut EP, ‘Outvoted by Robots’, set the tone – it’s brash, political, and powerful. Expect a set that’s fast, sharp, and unapologetic.
Adding some garage-rock fuzz to the night are Leeds trio Nervous Twitch, whose hook-laden sound recalls The Cramps and The Gun Club.
Local favourites The Inklings, formed from the ashes of Zeitgeist ’77, are still packing pubs and sharing stages with the likes of Baz Warne and Glen Matlock. Expect a fiery set.
Rounding off the bill is a solo performance from Peesh (LoGOz / Cherry & Peesh), delivering raw poetry and punk from his latest album, ‘The Perennial Effect’.
Now in its ninth year, Riverside Rebellion is more than a gig – it’s a movement. Be there. Be loud. Be ready.
