This month, Stockton Globe will present a brand new event to the area, entitled Tees Folk, which will celebrate folk music and bring the very best performers to Teesside.
On Friday 22nd September, the venue will welcome multiple music guests from the world of folk music, including the Young’uns, who released their latest album ‘Tiny Notes’ in April of this year; the album received high praise in the media and the band have since toured in various locations up and down the country.
The remaining line-up includes award-winning Scottish artist Kris Drever, who recently completed a UK summer tour, husband and wife music duo Megson, who completed and released their ninth studio album, ‘Unknown Waters’, in 2021, and the Ukulele playing Amelia Coburn, whose latest single, ‘Perfect Storm’, was played on the radio both domestically and internationally.
Following the event itself, an after-party will be held at Stockton Globe’s sister venue The Link, a multi-purpose venue space in Stockton, and will be hosted by the Glasgow-based folk band, Gnoss. Armed with a distinct style, Gnoss’ sound is described as a rich tapestry of acoustic layers, featuring outstanding musicianship and deep traditional roots.
Just a six-minute walk from Stockton station, The Globe Theatre, in the heart of the town, has a capacity of over 2300 people and is sure to be an ideal location for the evening. The theatre underwent a revamp in May 2021, after being laid to waste for twenty five years, and has paved the way for other theatres in the North of England to receive the same treatment.
The venue has stated that the evening is for 11+ audiences only and anyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Tickets are available from £21.50 and can be purchased at stocktonglobe.co.uk or atgtickets.com.
Additionally, the organisers have also recognised the demand for seating for the upcoming event and have announced there will be seating provisions available for those wishing to have the option of sitting during the performance. Further information about how to access seating can be found at the Stockton Globe ATG tickets website at stocktonglobe.co.uk, where you can also find out more about Tees Folk and The Globe’s other upcoming events.
