Young rising indie-rock stars, The Kairos, will perform at the brilliant 300-capacity KU in Stockton on Friday 13th October in what will be one of their biggest headlines to date.
These four lads mix retro cool with an incredible raw energy to bring passion and fire to every performance.
Hailing from Liverpool, the Kairos have clearly grasped that Mersey beat heritage of The Beatles and especially the La’s. However, their sound is more akin to some of the heavier bands of the past few decades presented with a modern twist; the intro to their headline sets has often been to a Prodigy remix of Iggy Pop’s ‘Lust For Life’, for example. Flashes of psych rock have appeared in recent performances too, with a nod to The Doors, Oasis, Kasabian and Arctic Monkeys.
Leading the charge with The Kairos is frontman Tom Dempsey (vocals and guitar). He has true rock star swagger and always brings a sharp Scouse humour between tracks.
Lewis Chambers (lead guitar) is the lynchpin with the aggressive, scuzzy sounds that have fired up this outfit.
Owen Forrester (bass) and Sam Bradley (drums) form a mighty rhythm section, with Sam’s explosive pummelling of the skins akin to a young Keith Moon.
These Scouse heroes built an initial following pre-lockdown with two banging tracks in ‘Money Mind’ and ‘Teetotal’. They’ve had a clutch of singles and live favourites since, some of which have appeared on their impressive six-track EP, ‘Better Late Than Never’. This release performed well on streaming platforms and pre-orders for the bottle green vinyl edition rocketed upon initial announcement. The EP features a range of styles, from the punchy rocker ‘Thick Of It’ to the more spaced-out ‘Trip Through The Night’.
The Kairos have really worked the live circuit in the past couple of years including two coveted slots at the Isle Of Wight Festival. They have forged a good North East following too with recent sets at Hardwick Festival and a well-received support for Madchester legends, James, at Darlington Arena in August.
Their headline at KU in Stockton this month will be followed at the end of their tour by another local set at Newcastle’s Think Tank? on Saturday 11th November.
This is a Teesside gig not to be missed – or in their words: “No Kairo, No Party”.
Tickets, priced at £10.00 in advance, are available from seetickets.com.
