As part of their latest tour, up-and-coming band The K’s will be performing an intimate acoustic set at KU in Stockton this May.
Celebrating the release of their highly anticipated debut album, ‘I Wonder If The World Knows?’, the four-piece will perform popular and brand new songs from their discography.
Lead singer Jamie Boyle has been mates with bassist, Dexter Baker, since nursery school; although the band wasn’t born until guitar player Ryan Breslin and drummer Jordan Holden joined. Jordan was the first of nine other drummers to audition but the band was so blown away by him, that they secured him right away.
The band met in Earlestown, a small town in Merseyside, which is where their mutual passion of music began to brew something big. With their influences from both Manchester and Liverpool present in their work, they sing about the sense of community that hard times can foster.
Their debut single, ‘Sarajevo’, has been streamed more than 6 million times on Spotify and has been followed by over a dozen singles since its release in 2017. The band has been speeding up their production as their popularity has grown.
Having supported artists including James, Blondie, Liam Gallagher, and The DMA’s, as well as selling out their own headline gigs, including Manchester’s Albert Hall, The K’s show no slowing down as they keep pumping out tunes.
Self-described as having an ‘in your face’ sound with a mix of rock, pop, indie and punk influences, they have performed to excitable festival crowds across the country, but are looking forward to performing for a northern crowd once again. Their sound is inspired by the likes of The Clash, The Jam, Squeeze, and The Libertines.
Their acoustic set at KU is a great opportunity to see these rising stars up close and personal as they showcase their work from their latest album. As their sound grows year after year, this stripped-back performance gives a more intimate setting to their expressive music that is usually loud, hard, fast and full of energy. Expect to hear The K’s as you’ve never heard them before.
Tickets for the event are available to purchase now, with the option to buy a bundle that includes a hard copy of the album, ‘I Wonder If The World Knows?’.
