Since their formation in 2002, The Urban Voodoo Machine (UVM) have become a defining force in the underground music scene. And on Friday 7th February, they’re set to make their triumphant return to Stockton.
The evening promises to be an unforgettable mix of the bizarre, terrifying, and hysterical – a true reflection of UVM’s unrelenting energy.
From Glastonbury to Download and Latitude, the band has honed their craft on some of the biggest stages in the UK, and they’re more than ready to whip up the crowd into a frenzy. Whether they’re headlining festivals or playing intimate venues, they always deliver a riotous experience, and Stockton will be no exception.
The Urban Voodoo Machine were born from the Gypsy Hotel Club cabaret night in London’s East End, creating a space for all misfits to gather. Known for their eclectic sound, the band weaves together genres like mariachi-style blues, infectious country, and punkabilly vibes. This diverse mix creates a unique sonic landscape that will resonate long after the night ends. They are masters of capturing the wild spirit of their music, offering a wild haven for anyone looking to escape the ordinary.
Led by the magnetic Paul-Ronney Angel, who takes on the roles of vocalist, guitarist, banjo, and harmonica player, UVM’s eight-piece line-up includes Slim (accordion and piano), Lucifire (baritone saxophone), Harrison ‘The Slayer’ Cole (trumpet), Mlle Chat Noir (violin), The Reverend Gavin Smith (upright bass), Jary (drums, cajon), and the late J-Roni-Moe (drums). Each member brings a wealth of talent to the table, creating a musical force that’s as intense as it is intoxicating. With their bourbon-soaked, high-energy performances, UVM delivers an experience that’s hard to forget.
On Friday 7th February, UVM won’t be invading Prince Regent Street alone. They’ll be joined by the eclectic Fat Medicine who will be bringing their ‘wacko windmill’ of folk to the stage. This double act promises a night of contrasting but complementary music, blending gravelly tones, jazz riffs, punk rock tangos, Celtic melodies, and rapid violin stings. The audience is in for a journey through genres and emotions that will leave them buzzing long after the last note.
So grab a drink, settle in, and let The Urban Voodoo Machine and Fat Medicine take you on a wild ride through their beautiful chaos. You won’t want to miss it!
