Alternative rockers The Floral Detectives have just released their newest single mysteriously titled, ‘The Masquerade (That Kinda Guy)’.
But there is no hiding behind a masquerade when it comes to this track.
Despite its rock and punk sound, lyrically, the song delves into the seemingly sad story of a man who doesn’t seem to know who he is.
With lyrics such as ‘he’s the kinda guy who’s always fighting with his friends – but it’s alright’, ‘how does he keep this up, this masquerade of sorts’ and ‘he doesn’t need anyone’, the lyrics reflect the mystery in the title. There is a question mark as to whether the man’s loneliness is self-inflicted due to character flaws or an unlucky tragedy of fate.
The Darlington-based Detectives have created a track that is powerful and gets your attention and also gets you thinking.
You can listen to the single now on all major streaming platforms.
