Teesside band Set Your Sights has been hard at work to introduce the world to their brand new single, ‘Now You Don’t’. Formed in 2012, the band has been on a long and winding journey ever since, touring up and down the country, headlining several events, and bringing out a number of great releases.
This new single takes the listener on what feels like a dark and moody adventure that clearly has a point to make; I think it’s up to the listener, however, to come up with their own interpretation on that point though.
The alternative rock/progressive pop-punk sound that rings through the entire track is also reminiscent of a couple of Biffy Clyro songs and I don’t think the trio will mind me saying that at all; having listened to other tracks, this seems to be a recurring theme, deliberate or not.
My only criticism of the song, however, would be that the vocals aren’t quite there with the rest of the song.
On the whole though, the work the boys have put into the track clearly shines through and if they continue to do what they’re doing, the Teesside trio can set their sights for the top (pun intended).
If you want to go and check out the track yourself then it can be found on both Spotify and YouTube. And to keep up-to-date with Set Your Sights’ tour schedule and new releases, head to Facebook.com/systeesside.
