One week after the release of their new album ‘Food for Worms’, South London outfit Shame brought their tour to Newcastle’s Boiler shop and rattled the tracks off of it.
In a recent interview with DAZED, guitarist Seán Coyle-Smith explained: “This album is definitely a little less overthought than the last album.”
This more laidback approach makes the live show eclectic, engaging and high-octane as Shame march out to TNT by AC/DC, smartly dressed and ready to blow.
Frontman Charlie Steen takes centre stage and declares he has 2 things to say. 1: “My mother is a Geordie.” 2: “Fuck Man City” (after Newcastle United’s 2-0 defeat earlier in the day).
It was tops off and mosh pits open as early as tune four as Shame’s set-list jumped from one album to another and kept energy high, with Bassist Josh Finerty doing shuttle runs up and down the stage behind Steen conducting the chaos of the crowd.
Saturday night in Newcastle’s city centre seemed a good time to see Shame as they tour an album designed for live shows, making it as much fun to perform as it is to watch.
