The Stand in Newcastle hosts another great evening of stand-up, with the Thursday Show on 8th August featuring some old hands of the stage and mic.
The hilarious Dan Nightingale could almost be described as an honorary north-easterner as he got his taste for comedy whilst working as a sound man at Newcastle’s Hyena Comedy Café. Originally from Preston, Lancashire, Dan moved to Manchester in 2004 and quickly became a kingpin of the comedy circuit, not only honing his act on-stage but also acting as booking agent and compere at various venues in the city. After a stint as part of The Big Value Comedy Show, including performances at Edinburgh’s fringe, Dan has continued to entertain audiences up and down the country with his sharp and instinctive observational comedy and killer punchlines.
Joe Heenan is a Perth-born stand-up with stacks of experience on stage and is a regular sight on the Edinburgh and Glasgow comedy circuits. Having first taken to the stage in 1995, his talents have led to writing credits on BBC Scotland’s Chewin’ The Fat and The Karen Dunbar Show.
Newcastle’s very own Andy Fury and Si Buglass are also in attendance for the night. Andy is a home-grown star with a top-notch reputation for self-depreciation and surreal gags that won him the Hilarity Bites New Act Of The Year Award in 2010. Andy has toured with Sarah Millican and Jason Manford, amongst others. Si Buglass’ comedy is odd Geordie gold, ranging from being sacked from Byker Grove to discussions on whether or not cats lay eggs.
Tickets, priced at £10.00, are available from thestand.co.uk.
