Matt Stellingwerf may not be as a familiar name in comedy as some but he is rising to become one of the brightest new stars on the British comedy circuit.
Whilst he may be a newcomer to us, he is a well-established act in New Zealand where he has won four NZ Comedy Guild Awards and received numerous plaudits and nominations from many other organisations.
The journey for Matt in the UK has seen him perform in some prestigious comedy clubs such as The Frog & Bucket, Last Laugh, The Comedy Café, and Mirth Control to name but a few and his stand-up has impressed and entertained these audiences in droves.
Matt’s background as a writer has certainly expanded his experience and as such his stand-up material covers a phenomenally diverse range of subjects from mental health, love, and drugs to implausibly an interview he once conducted with an inmate on death row.
His almost scientific and research-based approach delivers anecdotal comedy with the jokes running thick and fast.
Matt was brilliantly described by one Twitter user as: “Thor & Wendy had a baby and it was raised by Stephen Fry and George Carlin!”.
