Hilarity Bitesize New Act & New Material night returns to Darlington this month with Bethany Black, a real star of the comedy world.
Bethany has been a professional stand-up comedian since 2004, with her debut show ‘Beth Becomes Her’ detailing the story of her being transgender, chronicling everything from her coming out through her transition and eventually falling in love. The show was nominated for Best Debut at Leicester Comedy Festival in 2008 and she only lost out narrowly to Sarah Millican.
In late 2017, Beth also filmed the role of Pocahontas for No Offence and was cast as Helen in Russell T. Davie’s multi-channel shows Cucumber, Banana and Tofu where she was the first trans actress to play a leading role.
Beth has also supported some big-names in comedy including Alan Carr, Sarah Millican, Tim Minchin and Rhys Darby.
Support on the night comes from Andy Fury who has impressed a lot of comedy lovers with his dark, self-deprecating humour and off-the-wall surrealism. He has a laid-back stage presence that “sometimes borders horizontal” and won the Hilarity Bites New Act of the Year Award in 2010, with the BBC also proclaiming him as: “An absolute genius of a comedian”.
Bethany Black and Andy Fury head to Hole in the Wall, Darlington on Monday 9th March.
Tickets, priced from £3.00 in advance, are available from hilaritybites.co.uk.
