Bishop Auckland Town Hall plays host to the Hilarity Bites Comedy Club on Friday 17th February, with a bill headlined by Alun Cochrane.
Cochrane is widely recognised as one of the country’s leading stand-up talents, a veteran of the TV and radio comedy circles and an hilarious elder statesman of the scene, albeit one who has played the role of an elder statesman since his younger days. His grouchy, salt-of-the-earth approach to storytelling is incredibly effective, powered by his skilled observation of the workaday, craft for a punchline and anecdotes both grounded and ridiculous.
Supporting Cochrane is fast-rising Barnsley comic Pete Selwood, lauded for his ease in getting an audience onside and his well-earned confidence, swaggering his way around tales of being young, male and disabled in Northern England.
Rounding out the slate is the North East’s Lee Kyle who brings an unusual job history into his unorthodox and often eccentric material, verging from the absurd to the side-splitting via physical comedy and swift pacing.
It’s a cast-iron, North-centric line-up.
Tickets, priced at £10.00 in advance, are available from bishopaucklandtownhall.org.uk.
