UK-born Georgie Carroll is returning from her life across the globe in Australia to perform her latest stand-up material. Of Britain’s Got Talent fame, the ex-nurse has moved on from her 20 years on the healthcare frontlines to bring tales of her life experiences to comedy venues around the world.
Her popularity has earned her a popular place within the online medical community and made her viral many times over.
Her debut comedy special aired on Australian TV in 2021 and has made her a regular on Australian comedy shows. She returned to the UK in 2023 to audition for Britain’s Got Talent and wowed both the judges and audience with her side-splitting set; her hilarious material got her all the way to the semi-final of series 16 of the show.
The live comedy powerhouse initially took her first steps onto the comedy scene after she moved to Australia with her husband and two sons. Searching for something that she liked doing by herself, she began to perform stand-up in a comedy club and fell in love with it.
She continued to perform, first at the Adelaide Festival and then winning the Best Comedy Award at the Adelaide Fringe for her latest show, ‘Sista Flo 2.0’. It has already toured over 150 dates in Australia, sold out at Edinburgh Fringe Festival (her first appearance at the event), and toured the UK in 2023. Due to exceptional demand, the tour is returning once again to the UK this year.
It’s no wonder that Georgie is so popular, due to her versatile and dynamic performances that have grabbed the attention of crowds all over the globe – both as live crowds and online appreciators.
Live comedy isn’t purely where her talents lie though, for she also has both a book and podcast under her belt too.
Her best-selling nursing “Bible”, titled ‘Off The Charts’ was nominated for the 2023 Russel Prize in humour writing and her podcast, ‘The Swab’, is in its third season. With over 125,000 listens and a nomination for Best Comedy Podcast 2022 under its belt, Georgie has said that “[The podcast] didn’t set out to be funny, it was just me chatting to everyday nurses, staff room banter style.”
This approachable and light-hearted take on every day difficult topics has made Georgie a popular comedian for those in the healthcare profession and beyond.
Tickets for Georgie’s latest tour, priced £24.00 in advance, are available at middlesbroughtownhall.co.uk.
