What can one say about comedian Seann Walsh? Well, quite a lot, really. So let’s keep this on topic and, most importantly, family-friendly.
This London-born comedian and occasional actor began his comedy career in Brighton at the age of 20. Assisted financially by his family, Walsh enrolled in Jill Edwards’ comedy workshops at the legendary Komedia venue, finding his messy little niche therein.
Twenty years later, the frantic funny man has completed seven major headline comedy tours, appeared on numerous panel shows, made various reality television appearances, and been involved in more than one media scandal.
Walsh’s comedy ‘schtick’ is built around the persona of a discombobulated and dishevelled bloke who is perpetually perturbed by the horrors of the modern world: the embodiment of everyone’s worst-ever hangover, complete with anxiety, paranoia and self-deprecation.
Whether this is indeed a persona or not, you’ll have to decide for yourself. You can do so by trotting along to his aptly named new stand-up show, ‘This Is Torture’, which Walsh says is his most-used day-to-day phrase.
The show, with a scheduled run of more than 60 performances, is an action-packed hour of his ‘trademark high-energy exasperation’.
See Walsh explain exactly why ‘This Is Torture’, at ARC in Stockton on Saturday 12th September, or The Witham in Barnard Castle on Friday 25th September – or perhaps attend both if you’re insane and/or a superfan.
Tickets, priced from £20.00 in advance, are available at arconline.co.uk or thewitham.org.uk.
