South Yorkshire outfit The Reytons are known for their witty lyrics, great stage presence and their ability to harness the powers of social media – I mean, Bruce Jones (Coronation Street’s Les Battersby) has even appeared in one of their music videos.
With true Yorkshire grit and a workman-like attitude they’re a tight-knit outfit, a pact, in fact, that produce rousing, punchy tracks.
‘Kids off the Estate’, a song that speaks about Rotherham’s Clifton Park being “Disneyland”, showcases The Reytons’ tongue-in-cheek attitude and their ability to create catchy, radio-friendly hits.
It’s a tough time for guitar/indie bands at the moment – the singles chart is full of poor pop/R&B tracks – so there’s certainly room for another South Yorkshire guitar band to breakthrough.
The Reytons head to o2 Academy 2, Newcastle on Friday 28th February.
Tickets, priced at £11.00 in advance, are available from seetickets.com.
