From humble beginnings, living everyday life as students and baristas, to playing gigs from Shirley in Solihull to Paris, these 20-something lads from Solihull, on the outskirts of that ‘Peaky Blinders’ renowned city itself, Birmingham, have supported some well-known bands, appeared at festivals all over the country and have played many sold-out gigs.
After living double lives, Pearce Macca (frontman), Liam Deakin (guitarist), Jonny Fyffe (bassists) and Niall Fennell (drummer) released their first demo in 2016 when they were only 16. Their indie-rock sound, which has a blend of R&B, ‘60s swagger, ‘80s groove and a helping of ‘90s attitude, has smashed them through the ceiling to dizzying heights, providing the Birmingham music scene with something fresh and exciting which turned heads and bagged them a deal with Universal Music.
In no time at all, this fresh-faced band were hot-footing to some mad city, doing a gig, polishing off a crate of beer at 10am and then asking a customer if they want that coffee to go literally the very next day – but they clearly love every minute of it.
Although the band are not quite household names just yet, they have legions of young fans and have quickly found their footing. Not only have they played a vast amount of gigs, touring around the country, but a month before the pandemic broke out in February 2020, the band were asked to play in Paris, which they naturally accepted.
Being a young band, they like to experiment with their sound and image because they are more than likely going to get away with it now rather than later in their career.
It’s quite clear that the band are riding a huge wave of hype and acclaim with their steady stream of bangers that they’ve been releasing, such as ‘Shut Me Out’ and ‘In My Element’, and I’m sure even greater things are to come for this lively bunch…London, Paris, the world! Who knows? But for now, as part of their extensive UK tour, they will be bringing their antics and energy to our region on more than one occasion, their first being at The Studio in Hartlepool on Sunday 8th September before heading over to Dublin the next day.
