Local indie-pop/alternative five-piece Palma Louca have released a brand new single that definitely gives you something to think about.
With upbeat guitars and exciting rhythms, ‘Billion’ has the air of a carefree quarantine bop but that impression wears off quickly once you start paying attention to its lyrics.
Observant, poignant songwriting gives room to current state of the world critique: “What if they lied to us? The summers are over we start to grow colder and trust. Fear is a fight that fades, some ways could light in the children are hiding today.”
Sprinkled with striking harmonies, here is a song that sticks with you – it’s not an easy one to shake off.
Talking about the track, the band explain: “To us, ‘Billion’ is an upbeat and energetic take on what’s happening in the world today and where we are heading. It’s something you can dance to and gets you thinking afterwards.”
