Dylan Flynn & the Dead Poets returned to KU tonight to a room filled with anticipation. Having previously spoken of their admiration for the venue, the quintet stayed true to their promise to return, delivering a set that perfectly encapsulated their ethos while celebrating authenticity and individuality.
The performance opened to warm applause, with the band launching straight into some of their best-loved tracks. Fan favourites ‘Running Away’ and the emotionally charged ‘I Love You (but you’re breaking my heart)’ were greeted enthusiastically, immediately energising the audience.
From the outset, there was a clear connection between band and crowd, united by a shared appreciation for the group’s passionate performance and heartfelt songwriting. Soaring guitar lines intertwined effortlessly with uplifting saxophone passages, creating a rich, dynamic sound that captivated everyone in the room. The set maintained its momentum throughout, with each song flowing seamlessly into the next and never allowing the energy to fade.
By the closing moments, it was evident that those in attendance had witnessed a band performing with confidence, conviction and genuine joy, leaving the audience eager for their next return to Teesside.
