Andy Parsons will perform at ARC in Stockton on Thursday 14th November with his latest show, ‘Bafflingly Optimistic’.
A true veteran of the UK’s comedy scene, with a pedigree stretching back through the ‘90s, Parsons holds a significant footprint in the national consciousness, particularly due to his decade-plus run as a regular on BBC’s ‘Mock The Week’, including throughout the show’s classic Noughties period.
Parsons was often observed to be an outlier on the show; while contrast in styles was always a key ingredient, his role as a jester-like foil proved divisive to many. With a joking style rooted in rationality but steeped nonetheless in silliness and perfectly capable of a breakneck left-field turn, Parsons certainly developed a distinctive flavour. Even if many felt the hit rate wasn’t as high as that of his colleagues, he didn’t seem concerned, which made each punchline all the more entertaining.
Off the back of this reputation since leaving the show in 2015, Parsons has continued to enjoy a stellar stint as a touring stand-up, continuing with this latest jaunt.
