Critically acclaimed comedian, writer and actor, Jen Brister, comes to the Tyne Theatre and Opera House on Thursday 5th October with The Optimist, a 76-time sold-out stand-up show.
Brister is a regular performer on the UK and international comedy circuits and has previously written and performed five other solo shows (‘Me My Mum & I’, ‘British(ish)’, ‘Now & Then’, ‘Wishful Thinking’, and The Other One’) around the world. Her razor-sharp routines are a real joy to hear, delivered in her unique, softly spoken manner.
During her extensive touring career, she has performed alongside fellow comedians Kerry Godliman, Francesca Martinez and Roisin Conaty and is currently supporting Frankie Boyle in London.
She has also made her mark on TV, appearing on BBC’s Live at the Apollo, Mock the Week, Frankie Boyle’s New World Order, Hypothetical and Sara Pascoe’s comedy Lectures on Dave.
The Optimist is a somewhat ironic title for this latest show, which sees Brister striving against her naturally cynical nature in order to try and see the bright side of life.
Tickets, priced at £19.00 in advance, are available now from tynetheatreandoperahouse.uk.
