You can take the boy out of Blyth but you can’t take Blyth out of the boy. This month, local legend Kai Humphries returns to his native North East with his new stand-up show, ‘Mischief’.
Throughout his comedy career, Humphries has taken his comedy across the world, to over 53 countries, and it’s no surprise that audiences across the globe have fallen for both his humour and his charm.
You may have come to be a fan of Kai’s in any number of ways: from experiencing his stand-up on his solo headline performances over the years or by discovering him during his performances as a support act for fellow comedian, Daniel Sloss. And some of you may know Humphries by his pseudonym, Muggins. This reference will be more than familiar to fans of the hilariously funny and uncensored podcast ‘Sloss and Humphries On the Road’ which features the musings and discussion of Kai and Daniel along with the occasional feature from their friends on the comedy scene.
Originally set to take place at The Stand on Tuesday 15th November, Humphries has ever so kindly pushed his performance back for Alan Shearer to take his slot. With the show now taking place on Monday 19th December, it means audiences get the gift of Kai for Christmas.
Following a fantastic run with the show at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe, Kai is bringing his highly-rated 5-star show back home to the North East where he’s sure to receive a warm welcome from his fellow Northerners.
Having already received many rave reviews for his ability to take the crude and inappropriate and make it hilarious, emotive and humorously inoffensive, the show is set to be a demonstration of Humphries’s creativity, comedic genius, onstage presence and loveable charisma.
So whether you’re an existing fan looking to catch up on the newest comedic tales in Kai’s life, or you’re just in the mood for a few laughs and a bit of pre-Christmas cheer, then you will find it all waiting for you at The Stand.
