Keep Saturday 11th November free to see some incredible artists take to the stage in Sunderland.
Waves Festival returns for a third time, featuring Manchester’s Everything Everything as headliners.
Joining headliners Everything Everything is Newcastle’s Pigsx7 and Sunderland’s bigfatbig. Also on the bill are up-and-coming artists Deco, Trunky Juno, BLED and Galaxians who stole the show at last year’s event.
Joining this stellar line-up are Battery Farm, Dead Wet Things, Tearjerker, Slalom D, Get Wrong and Pillow Fort.
Completing the day’s line-up is an impressive showcase of local talent such as Camel Island, Club Paradise, Crowley, noyou, Post Rome and The Voyd, with more local acts still to be added.
Headliners Everything Everything have North East connections as three of the original members are from Northumberland. Their musical style has been described as indie, art-pop/rock and experimental. They have been shortlisted for the Mercury Music Prize on two occasions and have also received five nominations for the Ivor Novello Award.
Pigsx7 are one of the region’s biggest successes, with their hypnotic doom/stoner metal sound and blistering live performances earning them a huge following, plus exposure on BBC 6 Music has resulted in a crossover of music fans. The band are embarking on a world tour, taking in the UK, USA and Australia. Make sure to catch them on home turf.
Sunderland’s bigfatbig has been delighting audiences since 2019. Their music is upbeat, angry and best translated onto the stage. They have previously played Twisterella Festival and had a hugely successful tour with Durham band Martha last year. They have also been included in Radio One’s Big Weekend which was a particular highlight for the band.
This superb all-day multi-venue festival will take place across various venues in the heart of the city. Confirmed venues are The Peacock, The Fire Station, Diego’s, Port of Call’s Tipi, Independent, The Ship Isis, The Bunker and Pop Recs.
Looking after these stages are local promoters and organisers Serial Bowl Records, Young Musicians Project and Portion for Foxes.
With so many talented artists playing at good local venues, this looks set to be an unforgettable day showcasing some incredible local and national talent.
