One of the North East’s most energetic emerging artists, George Bailey, takes centre stage at ARC Stockton on Thursday 14th May as the headline act for the venue’s Soundcheck initiative. Based on his recent output, this promises to be a night not to be missed, offering a perfect opportunity for audiences to experience one of the region’s most exciting musical talents live.
Soundcheck, hosted by Nicky Hargreaves of Promoting Local, has earned a strong reputation for discovering and championing the finest emerging artists from Tees Valley and the wider North East. The initiative gives audiences a chance to catch acts at the very beginning of what could be remarkable careers. George Bailey’s headline slot feels both timely and natural, a milestone in a journey that has been steadily building over the past decade.
George crafts music that fuses electric alt-rock, soulful folk and raw, honest songwriting. His sound is unmistakably his own, shaped by years of experience and experimentation. On stage, his performances are known for their dynamic range – explosive and tender in equal measure – always with the aim of creating a genuine connection with the audience. It’s music that resonates long after the last note fades, keeping listeners engaged and moving.
Momentum is building quickly in 2026. His single, ‘Nothing Now’, released on Valentine’s Day, continues to sharpen the emotional edge that has become his signature, while new single, ‘Dream’, is also out now. Fans will have the chance to hear the tracks fresh, experiencing their power in a live setting for the very first time.
Supporting George on the night is a strong regional line-up. Middlesbrough indie rockers Nice Guy, veterans of the Teesside circuit and past supporters of Avalanche Party and Stockton Calling, bring their alternative indie sound to the stage. Singer-songwriter Alex Lyons opens the evening with beautifully crafted acoustic folk-pop, drawing inspiration from Carole King and Joni Mitchell. Completing the bill, guitarist Jake Diaz and his band deliver a heady mix of British indie and Americana blues.
The show features standing and unreserved seating, is suitable for ages 14+, and under-16s must be accompanied by an adult.
Tickets, priced from £8.00 in advance, are available at arconline.co.uk.
