John Jones, renowned as the frontman of Oysterband, is an almost mythical, melodeon-playing folk hero. What began in 1978 as the traditional folk group The Oyster Ceilidh Band evolved into Oysterband, a socio-politically-charged folk-rock outfit that went on to release 14 studio albums and achieve worldwide cult status.
In 2009, Jones embarked on a solo career, undertaking an extraordinary musical pilgrimage. Alongside his band of “Reluctant Ramblers,” he hiked long distances to perform at venues across the UK.
Catch him at Gosforth Civic Theatre, masterfully accompanied by former Oysterband members Al Scott and Roy Cooper.
Tickets, priced at £22.00 in advance, are available at gosforthcivictheatre.co.uk.
