Scott Matthews’ ground-breaking debut album, ‘Passing Stranger’, earned him serious critical acclaim with its bold mix of folk, rock, blues, and Eastern-inspired songwriting. In 2007, his first single, ‘Elusive’, won the Ivor Novello Award for ‘Best Song Musically and Lyrically.’
Championed by Lauren Laverne as “a big favourite” and Huey Morgan as “something else”, Scott’s musical dexterity and experimental approach to songwriting and home recording continue to excite, including on his most recent release, ‘New Skin’, which is swathed in Eno-esque electronica and Thom Yorke-inspired textures.
Matthews will perform at Gosforth Civic Theatre on Friday 24th January.
