If you’re in need of a good chuckle then head to The Georgian Theatre this month for the three-day comedy festival, Last Stop To Edinburgh.
The event, which will run from Friday 22nd to Sunday 24th July, features an array of talented comedians sharing their work in progress shows ahead of the illustrious Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Friday will see three shows gracing the stage, with Troy Hawke opening the festival with his show ‘Sigmund Troy’d’ in which Hawke’s 1930’s throwback homeschooled investigator character battles a new common enemy we all share in the form of the saboteur that lurks within our own minds.
Following this will be Lou Conran with ‘A Show’ which sees the comedian embrace her devil-may-care attitude and will have audiences in stitches with her fabulously filthy comedy.
Ending Friday evening will be Chris Lumb and Phil Allan-Smith who will be pushing improv to its limits as they get creative with quick-thinking scenes and some wacky special guests in their show, ‘The Halls of Ridiculous’.
Opening up Saturday’s afternoon stint will be The Discount Comedy Checkout. This family show focuses on the ideas and stories of children and allows them to be brought to life through these talented performers.
There will also be a fascinating show from one of the UK’s top family comedians, Lee Kyle, and his new show, ‘Lee Kyle Doesn’t Know’, a show which focuses on Kyle and his lack of knowing some things such as how to behave.
The evening starts with Danny Posthill in ‘Standup for the People’ where he looks into the political landscape of comedy. Colin Hoult follows with ‘The Death of Anna Mann’ as this star recalls tales of her life in the arts.
Renowned Teesside comedian Patrick Monahan will also be bringing his topical and observational comedy talents to Teesside before Lee Kyle then returns to the stage with his adults-only show as he takes a look back at his life and realises he might just be an oddball.
The weekend closes with a double-headline show from Stephen Bailey and Brennan Reece who are serving up 90-minutes of hilarity ahead of their UK tours.
So whether you attend every show or just one, you will be guaranteed to leave with a smile on your face after experiencing the fringe before Edinburgh.
