Regional staple the Shoe Cake Comedy Club returns to The Georgian Theatre in Stockton-on-Tees with a Saturday night special on June 19th, bang on the eve of unlocking.
The evening will be headlined by The Discount Comedy Checkout, the Leeds collective carving quite a niche for themselves. Emblematic of Shoe Cake’s catering to all manner of comedy fans, viewers can expect unfiltered, improvised skit work from Chris Lumb, Eddie French and Phil Smith, backed by an impressive pop cultural education.
Billed as ‘Whose Line Is It Anyway?’ with a modern, riskier and invariably cruder twist, the marquee act will pack sketches, riffs and, yes that’s right, games conjured from the audience’s own participation! Lumb doubles as the razor-sharp, quick-on-the-draw MC for the Comedy Club.
Stand-up David Eagle completes the line-up, decorated with laurels as a freshman comic from 2018 onwards and boasting endorsements from Reginald D Hunter and Boothby Graffoe.
