The two-part showcase ‘Play, Pause, Repeat’ will highlight some of the best emerging dancers in the North East scene.
Former Rambert artist Patricia Okenwa will bring her choreography skills to ‘The Messiest Drawer’, where we delve into the world of clutter, tangles, and all the things we hold on to, exploring the stories they tell. Audiences will follow the narrative of unpacking, rediscovering, and repositioning, as memories bubble to the surface and move us in many ways, allowing us to get stuck in a moment and hold those connections close to our hearts.
Award-winning Jamaal Burkmar will also present a performance that he has conceptualised and choreographed in the form of ‘How To Decouple in an Ethical Way’. This presentation follows the love story of millennials, told in three sessions and three songs. Through a mix of choreography and improvisation, using music, movement, and text, this piece takes you on an intriguing journey that explores the fleeting nature of a new relationship.
Tickets, priced from £13.38 in advance, are available from gosforthcivictheatre.co.uk.
