There can be few festivals that are held in such beautiful surroundings as the Lindisfarne Festival. Back for its eighth year, it takes place from 31st August to 3rd September. Offering a jam-packed programme of entertainment, with hundreds of acts across eight unique stages, it promises to be a genre-hopping potpourri of top-notch performances – all while overlooking the beautiful and spiritual Holy Island. It promises to be an absolute belter.
On the Shorefields stage, legendary Scottish rockers Primal Scream are the headline act on Saturday night, with Aussie electronic rockers Pendulum taking top billing on Sunday night. How’s that for starters? Other acts performing on the main stage across the weekend are local legends of loudness Pigs, Pigs, Pigs, Pigs, Pigs, Pigs, Pigs (their amps go past eleven), Nottinghamshire folk-punk rockers Ferocious Dog (they will get you bouncing like a kangaroo wearing springs), and local folk royalty, The Unthanks. Also treading the Shorefields boards across the weekend are Stereo MC’s, Kathryn Tickell & The Darkening, local hard rockers Not Now Norman (who took 2nd place at NE Volume’s ‘Battle of the Bands 2022’), and wonderfully named North-East quartet, Dilutey Juice.
A great feature of this festival is you can target certain tents depending on your musical whims. Head over to The Temple if you desire to dance until the early hours with some fine DJs. The Altar sits in the middle of the site and will be playing a wide range of music from across the decades, so there will be something for everyone. You can either laugh or dance in The Dingle Dell, or maybe flail your limbs and bathe in raucous merriment at the Viking Brew House. And who knows what you may find as you wander around the site as a plethora of performers, including jugglers, fire performers and acrobats, will be looking to entertain you. If all that is too much, you can chill at the Shanti Bee Healing Tent where you can take part in yoga and meditation sessions, have a Tarot card reading, or even get yourself a massage.
There are various permutations of tickets available across the festival, with the option to pitch a tent or even bring your campervan. So, whether you want the full four-day camping experience, or you just want to visit on Saturday, there’s bound to be an option that will suit you.
