Lindisfarne Festival is back for its tenth year, and it continues to occupy a special place – both physically and spiritually – on the UK festival map. Boutique in size but certainly not in ambition, this year’s line-up features a diverse blend of musical heavyweights. Headliners include the legendary Armand Van Helden, Mercury Prize-winning indie heroes Doves, folk-rock veterans The Waterboys, and Liverpool’s rising star Jamie Webster. Further down the bill, festival-goers can look forward to high-energy sets from Terrorvision, Inspiral Carpets, and Utah Saints. Hip hop pioneers Sugarhill Gang & The Furious 5 are also set to blow the roof off with a set that promises timeless party anthems.
Beyond music, the festival’s eclectic programming continues to impress. Local spoken word, hip-hop and comedy collective Born Lippy return with a comedy stage takeover alongside North East favourites Felt Nowt Comedy, ensuring there’s something for everyone.
Since its humble beginnings in 2015 with around 2000 attendees and support from Arts Council England, Lindisfarne has built a reputation for seamlessly blending grassroots creativity with major acts. Last year saw hip-hop icons De La Soul bring the funk to the coast, while 2022 was headlined by none other than Primal Scream. This isn’t a local arts festival that just happened to grow – it’s a bold, creative expression of what discerning music lovers truly want.
By 2020, Lindisfarne had evolved into a beloved end-of-summer celebration, featuring over 200 acts across ten themed stages. The programme had expanded to include indie DJs, yoga and wellness workshops, immersive street performances, roaring bonfires, and holistic retreat zones. The full festival experience had well and truly arrived.
This year promises more of the same magic. Expect high-energy performances, rich creative arts offerings, laughter from the comedy stages, and unforgettable late-night DJ sets.
