Tuesday 4th August sees Alun Cochrane headline Hilarity Bites Comedy Club at the Arts Hub in Ripon. The West Yorkshire comedian remains every bit as entertaining as when his comedy career began more than two decades ago. Since then, he has built an impressive reputation across television and, in particular, radio, where his unmistakable voice and distinctive delivery have become instantly recognisable.
Many people first discovered Cochrane during the mid to late Noughties through the golden era of British television panel shows. As the format flourished, he quickly established himself as one of its most memorable performers, winning audiences over with his sharp wit and understated style.
Cochrane carved out his own niche with a distinctly Yorkshire, no-holds-barred approach, an exceptional gift for storytelling and a delivery drier than the Gobi Desert. While his style remains reassuringly familiar, his ability to drift effortlessly into the surreal and spin comic gold from the most ordinary observations has only grown stronger with experience.
This is a fantastic opportunity to see one of Britain’s finest stand-up comedians in an intimate setting, whether you are a long-time fan or discovering his work for the first time.
Alun is joined by two excellent support acts. Lauren Pattison brings her acclaimed, energetic style to the bill, while rising Barnsley comedian Pete Selwood completes a line-up packed with talent, ensuring an evening of first-class live comedy.
Tickets, priced at £12.00 in advance, are available at hilaritybites.co.uk.
