Renowned North East dance company, The Eliot Smith Dance Company, will host a brand new moving and energetic show at Dance City this month featuring two performances.
The first performance will be a premiere of Paul Taylor’s ‘DUET’ from 1964. Set to the enduring music of Franz Josef Haydn, the performance will take a look at the past and future through the lens of love – a love that is familiar and true.
Following on from ‘DUET’ will be a new performance that follows a single dancer. Titled ‘HUMAN’, the sole performer takes centre stage as the audience is taken on a journey that follows the delights, sorrows, absurdities and the brilliance of being human. Communicated through breathtaking dancing set to the music of Eliot Smith Dance’s composer-in-residence Adam Johnson, a blend of commercial and contemporary dancing styles will be used to explore the complexities of the human existence.
