Be prepared for a performance spectacular like you’ve never seen before as Dance City welcomes South Australian superstar choreographer Lewis Major and his new shows, ‘Satori’ and ‘Unfolding’, to Newcastle.
On Saturday 30th July, the double-bill performance will see audiences experience two contemporary dance pieces that reveal the poetic possibilities of universal rhythms and cycles in relation to the miracle of the human form.
The performances use 3D projection to light up the performers and space.
Unfolding evolves through a fluid display of a shifting atmosphere and stage architecture, with Fausto Brusamolino’s interplay of lighting, working in combination with a pulsating score provided by James Brown, ensuring that the dancers are guided through an utterly mesmerising performance.
Satori sees the envisioning of a revolving universe of impermanence and shifting atmospheres amongst different patterns of sound, movement and light. This creates a hypnotic meditation experience that is a result of the patterns made by bodies, sound and light reflection on our transient state of reality.
