Teesside’s biggest and longest-running multi-venue festival has announced another of its 2024 headliners.
Manchester’s Corella will headline the KU Stage next Easter for the 2024 edition of Stockton Calling.
Jimmy Beck, Stockton Calling co-programmer and co-owner of KU is delighted to see Corella hit his stage; “I’ve had my eye on these lads for a while now, they’ve been making a real impact at some of the UK’s biggest festivals – so it’s a real coup to get them to come to Stockton Calling while they are rocketing skywards.
“They’ve done Reading & Leeds, Latitude and Kendal Calling recently – so adding Stockton Calling to that list puts us in great company.”
Performing together since meeting at university, the band’s complement – consisting of Joel Smith (vocals), Jack Taylor (guitar), Ben Henderson (bass) and James Faw (drums) – professes a message of youthful confidence in exploring what it is to grow up in the UK today, meting out the challenges thrown their way with a united front and positive mindset.
Their music reflects this by blending gorgeously tropical indie-pop tones with emotive lyricism, alongside a stunning live performance that compliments the band’s energised delivery beyond what one might consider possible given their young years.
These sentiments have earned them an ever-growing rapturous and loyal fanbase, resulting in numerous sold-out headline tours of the UK, and captivating audiences at major UK festivals.
Now poised to release their debut album, off the back of a string of releases that have earned them over 30 million streams, Radio 1 plays and their current headline UK tour completely sold out, the realisation of this bona fide North of the UK success story is only set to continue.
Stockton Calling has taken place on Easter Saturday since 2010, making it the longest-running event of its kind in the North East – attracting around 2,000 music lovers into Stockton town centre for the day.
Last year’s event attracted a record crowd and sold out several days beforehand.
Stockton Calling is co-promoted by Tees Music Alliance, ARC and KU Promotions – and the festival sees stages being presented in a range of venues across the town centre, featuring scores of bands performing from early afternoon onwards.
Tickets, priced at £40.00 in advance, are available at stocktoncalling.co.uk.
